Fort Hood - violence and words

Violence is the only mute action, says Hannah Arendt. When the boundaries of words are pressed upon one, violence ensues. The psychiatrist Dr. Nidal Hazan, the suspect gunman in the fort hood shootings, may have run out of words. Or come to the end of words power over the pain and suffering of war. War – that very mute action – could not be consoled with words. Violence turned on violence.
